"FRUITFULNESS"는 M. Zola가 인간 삶의 4가지 기본 원칙이라고 생각하는 것을 구현하기 위해 제안한 4편의 시리즈 중 첫 번째 작품이다. 이 작품은 믿음, 희망, 사랑의 원칙을 다룬 '루르드', '로마', '파리'의 이전 시리즈에서 비롯되었다.

"FRUITFULNESS" is the first in a four-part series proposed by M. Zola to embody what he considers to be the four basic principles of human life. This work derives from the previous series of 'Lourdes', 'Rome' and 'Paris', which dealt with the principles of faith, hope and love.
In the final scene of "Paris," Pierre Prong's wife, Marie, holds her son in her arms and dedicates him to the city of labor and thought, providing the necessary transition from one series to another.
M. Zola says, "Fruits make families. From there springs cities. From the concept of citizenship comes the concept of the motherland, and from the spirit of science comes the love of the motherland to a broader and broader concept."
