The Rover is a novel by Joseph Conrad, first published in 1923, tells the story of a former sailor named Peyrol who retires to a small town on the French coast during the French Revolution.
The novel addresses the themes of loyalty, honor, and the struggle for survival in a time of political upheaval, as well as the nature of heroism and the moral ambiguity of political violence. Also, this book does a good job of vividly describing the natural environment of the French coast.
