요약

Summary
The story begins with Wentworth and Haynes landing on the planet. They are immediately shocked by the strangeness of the place. The planet is covered with forests of cypresses, tall, slender trees without branches. The sycamore tree is the only living thing on Earth that seems to be perfectly aligned.
Wentworth and Haynes begin exploring the planet and soon discover that it is much stranger than they thought. They find dams, canals, and other structures that were clearly built by intelligent species. But they find no evidence for race itself.
The more they probe, the more puzzled Wentworth and Haynes become. They cannot understand how one race could build such an elaborate structure and then disappear without a trace...
