Summary

To correct her vision, she needs glasses, but she is very reluctant to wear them, fearing that they will spoil her own beauty. This is because she believes that, given the social norms of the time, wearing her glasses will make her less attractive and lessen her marriage prospects, especially when it comes to marriage.
The story takes a turn when a portrait painter falls in love with Flora's beauty and wants to capture it in a painting.
