Father’s Tips for Success to His Son is based on my experiences leading Samsung’s global scholarship programs and contains heartfelt advice I shared with my two children. This book was written to share the insights I gained from nurturing global talent, offering practical wisdom to parents raising children and to young people seeking success and personal growth. I hope this book becomes a helpful guide on your journey.
The book is structured around conversations between a father and son as they travel to iconic places in the United States. Through these discussions, they explore 10 key themes, including setting goals, overcoming challenges, building relationships, achieving financial success, and finding true love and happiness. Each of the 70 lessons offers practical, actionable advice for real-life situations.
As a parent, I have set goals and worked hard to raise my children well. During my career at Samsung, I worked with leaders such as Lee Kunhee and Lee Jaeyong, and collaborated with presidents, professors, and experts at top universities in Korea and abroad, including Seoul National University and KAIST. My visits to universities across the United States, such as Harvard and Stanford, to meet Samsung Scholars provided the inspiration for much of the wisdom in this book.
Additionally, I learned effective study methods and growth strategies from these scholars, often called “study geniuses,” which can benefit students of all ages, from elementary school to high school.
I have also written several personal development books, including Letters of Growth for the Mind, The Life Reference Book, and Bestsellers Review, sharing insights with readers in Korea. My English-language books, such as Success Wisdom and Mindfulness and Wisdom Echoes, have brought Korean wisdom and positive messages to readers worldwide through Amazon. As a creator on Brunch, a popular platform in Korea, I continue to provide encouragement and practical advice to a wide audience.
