Eustacia, consumed by despair and hopelessness, makes a final, fateful decision. On a stormy night, she wanders out into the darkness, and tragedy unfolds as she drowns in a river. Wildeve attempts to save her but perishes as well, leaving Clym devastated. Thomasin, now a widow, struggles with her future but eventually finds hope in Diggory Venn, a once-rejected suitor who remained loyal. Clym, burdened by grief and regret, dedicates himself to a life of preaching, believing it to be his calling. Thomasin chooses a more stable and peaceful path, accepting Venn’s love and security. The novel ends with a reflection on fate, personal ambition, and the inescapable pull of Egdon Heath. Each character's destiny is shaped by their choices, yet ultimately dictated by forces beyond their control.
