Ten years after the Trojan War, Odysseus has yet to return to Ithaca. His wife, Penelope, is besieged by suitors, and their son, Telemachus, sets out to find news of his father. Meanwhile, Odysseus is held captive on Calypso's island but escapes with divine assistance and reaches the land of the Phaeacians. There, he recounts his past adventures, including encounters with the Cyclops Polyphemus, the sorceress Circe, a journey to the underworld, the Sirens' temptation, and the dangers of Scylla and Charybdis. These tales highlight Odysseus's intelligence and bravery. Moved by his stories, the Phaeacians help him return to Ithaca. Thus, the first part unfolds through Odysseus's adventures and Telemachus's quest.
