Godfrey Morgan, a wealthy young man from San Francisco, wishes to travel the world before settling down. With support from his uncle William Kolderup, he embarks on a voyage aboard the steamship 'Dream' with his etiquette instructor, Professor Tartlet. During the journey, the ship sinks, and the two find themselves stranded on an uninhabited Pacific island. They begin to adapt by sourcing food, creating shelter, and confronting the challenges of survival. Through these experiences, Godfrey gradually develops self-reliance and courage.
