After losing her parents, Mary Lennox is sent to live in her reclusive uncle’s vast and lonely estate. Initially cold and sullen, Mary slowly softens through her interactions with Martha, Dickon, and a friendly robin who leads her to the long-locked secret garden. As she investigates mysterious cries in the house, she discovers a sickly boy named Colin hidden away, just as isolated as herself. Drawn together by the garden’s mystery, Mary and Colin begin to form a fragile connection. This first half traces a journey from loss and isolation to the first stirrings of emotional rebirth and friendship.
