Bedford, a desperate businessman, meets the eccentric scientist Cavor in the quiet town of Lympne, setting off an unusual partnership. Cavor develops a gravity-defying substance called "Cavorite," and together they build a spherical spaceship to journey to the Moon. Inside the sphere, they launch into space, experiencing a strange weightlessness during their silent voyage.
