As the Scarecrow rules over Silver Island, he begins to question his role as emperor. Dorothy befriends magical creatures and finally locates the Scarecrow, and together they plot their escape. Their thrilling flight via parasol leads them away from the island, and after many trials, they return safely to the Land of Oz. The journey back to the Emerald City marks both the end of one adventure and the start of new ones. The story warmly explores themes of identity, loyalty, and friendship in Oz.
