In the second half, Vane’s journey leads him through Bulika and the House of Death, where suffering and surrender become necessary stages of transformation. Lilith’s refusal to relinquish her self-centered will results in her tragic downfall, revealing that redemption requires the acceptance of death-like rest. Through silence, dissolution, and awakening, Vane learns that true life is found through love, obedience, and the relinquishment of self.
The novel concludes with the paradox of the “endless ending,” affirming that salvation lies beyond fear, only after passing fully through death into awakening.
