After the age of satire and reason, Romanticism brings feeling, nature, imagination, and the inner life to the foreground. Later fiction grows into a powerful form for examining society and human psychology, while Victorian and late Victorian writing combines history, criticism, philosophy, realism, and artistic experiment.
