The two Sea Lions push far into the Southern Hemisphere, round Cape Horn, and enter the little-known Antarctic seas, where Roswell discovers remote Sealer's Land and begins a highly profitable hunt for seals and sea elephants. Ice, storms, and dangerous bergs soon transform commercial rivalry into a struggle for survival, and Daggett's schooner suffers severe damage that makes an easy return increasingly impossible.
