Separated from Meriem, Korak continues wandering the jungle in search of her, while Meriem grows into young womanhood under Bwana and his wife, gradually adapting to civilized life yet never forgetting Korak and eventually attracting the affection of the Englishman Morison Baynes. When Meriem leaves with Baynes and is drawn into fresh danger, Korak unexpectedly finds her trail and risks his life to save her, while Tarzan and Jane also come to Africa in search of their long-missing son and the scattered threads of the story begin to converge. After further pursuit, captivity, and violent conflict, Korak and Meriem are reunited and acknowledge their love, Jack is restored to his parents, and the mystery surrounding Meriem’s birth is resolved, bringing their long journey from childhood in the jungle toward a shared future to a close.
