After escaping from prison, Nikolas Rokoff and Alexis Paulvitch seek revenge by kidnapping Tarzan’s infant son and luring Tarzan into a trap that leaves him marooned on a remote island, but he survives by forming an extraordinary alliance with Sheeta the panther, Akut and his great apes, and the native warrior Mugambi before setting out in pursuit. Learning that Jane and the child are also in grave danger, Tarzan follows Rokoff’s party across Africa, overcoming betrayal, hostile tribes, deadly rituals, and repeated attacks, while his animal companions repeatedly help him escape situations that would otherwise mean certain death. After encountering unexpected acts of courage and sacrifice along the way, Tarzan becomes certain that Jane has once again fallen into Rokoff’s hands and presses deeper into the jungle determined to recover his family.
